Thomas Aaron Bailey is an American farmer and libertarian activist. He was the Libertarian Party candidate for the United States Senate from North Carolina in the 2004 general elections.[1] Bailey faced Democrat Erskine Bowles and Republican Richard Burr in the 2004 Senate election, earning about 1% of the popular vote.
Bailey is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After graduating high school, he attended a Mormon seminary but did not graduate.
Bailey served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
During his lifetime, he has worked as a construction worker, an independent roofing contractor, and ultimately a farmer.
Bailey previously ran unsuccessfully for the North Carolina General Assembly as a Libertarian in 1996 and 1998, and for the United States House of Representatives in 2002. Bailey also founded the Guilford County, North Carolina, affiliate of the Libertarian Party and was a member of the executive committee of the Libertarian Party of North Carolina.
